Welcome to the website of the European Centre for Conflict Prevention (ECCP), a non-governmental organisation that promotes effective conflict prevention and peacebuilding strategies and actively supports and connects people who work for peace worldwide.
The ECCP is the Global Secretariat of the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC), which most of ECCP's activities currently centre on.
GPPAC is a world-wide civil society-led network which aims to build a new international consensus on peacebuilding and the prevention of violent conflict. It was established in 2003 in response to the call of former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan in his Report on the Prevention of Armed Conflict (2001). GPPAC strengthens civil society networks for peace and security by linking local, national, regional, and global levels of action and provides an effective vehicle for engagement with governments, the UN system, and regional organisations.
